Human behavior research paper topics
A few case studies are included as examples. The purpose of this chapter is not to present ready-to-use models for behavior analysis across cultures or cross-cultural psychotherapy. Rather, it is to emphasize that culture, lifestyle, customs, and other related variables are among the determinants of human behavior -- and that, often, the remedies are available within the client's own culture and beliefs. But some words of caution are in order: there is the ever-perplexing presence of individual differences; and there are subgroups within groups, subcultures within cultures. Indeed, without many of us being aware -- or caring to become aware -- we have subcultures in our own homes here in the United States.
Human capital research paper
Most if not all studies of phenomena associated with the concept of human capital have ignored the role of information cost in its formation. It is assumed that human capital is somehow created in the process of schooling or working onthe-job and that its creation reflects an alteration in the productive capacity of the worker. But this assumption is not necessarily in accord with fact. To make the point clearly, consider an extreme case: suppose that in an on-the-job training program workers learn nothing that increases their productive capacity, and that employers are aware of this fact.
human paper research trafficking
Thirty years after the Communists declared that prostitution in China had been eradicated, the evil winds of vice are once again sweeping over China. A growing economic prosperity and privatized consumerism have brought about a resurgence in prostitution, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and widespread venereal diseases. Market-oriented economic policies have led to a slackening in the earlier, rigorously controlled labor marketplace. The availability of new employment opportunities has brought fresh air to the formerly stagnant labor forces. Young men and women in small towns or rural areas are eager to travel to such big cities as Beijing and Shanghai and to the new economic zone in Guangdong province to seek economic advancement and even to become rich.
hybrid car research paper
As noted above, the same conservatism can be seen in the development of an electric vehicle. Until now, the automobile industry has not been able to get rid of the model of the all-purpose vehicle and has therefore favored retaining the internal combustion engine as the car's technical core. The hybrid car and more fuel-efficient cars are examples. Mainstream thinking in the industry translates the global vision of a less polluting car into local solutions which do not vary much. Therefore, activities within niches become important for radical innovations. It is up to the electric industry and independent designers and engineers (and nations free from automobile corporations such as Switzerland and Austria) to develop a new paradigm of the car.
identity theft research paper
When a customer telephones his or her bank to transfer funds between two accounts, or perhaps to order a new credit card, an SSN will be required to validate the transaction. So a criminal who learns your SSN might fraudulently check your bank balance, or have a "replacement" credit card sent to his hotel room. Access to your SSN can also be the starting point for that irksome modern nightmare, identity theft. In other words, some privacy paranoia is soundly based! And yet, this whole controversy is rooted in misconception, a failure to note the distinction between a password and a name.
mail spam research papers
Anonymous communication seems to encourage "spamming" or the transmission of other unwanted messages. This raises the communication-oriented free-expression issue about message receivers: Do they have a right to control their communication space? This question usually is treated as a matter of invasion of privacy, as will be shown later, but it can also be seen as a free-expression concern. How does one effectively engage in free expression in an environment that is awash in garbage? The problem, of course, is that one person's garbage is another person's treasure, which means that message value is a function of personal, individualized taste.
malcolm x research paper
Malcolm's fanatic commitment to the liberation of the black poor alienated him not only from most whites and many persons in the black middle class, but also, as it turned out, from his own religious community and from Elijah Muhammad as well. In a soul-wrenching experience he was separated from his spiritual father and teacher, the Messenger of Allah, to whom he had given his complete allegiance. From the moment of his sudden conversion in 1948, Malcolm had defined his whole life in total devotion to building the Nation of Islam into a force to be reckoned with. He promoted Muhammad as the "second Moses," sent by the "Great God Allah" to separate the so‐ called Negroes from the coming destruction of white America.
nature research paper
This emotion of awe can never have been anything of the nature of a 'projection'. Nor is anything really explained by saying that Religion arises from auto-suggestion. All suggestion must come from somewhere, and suggestion that raises the whole level of individual and corporate life cannot be wholly explained from within that life. Water cannot of itself rise higher than its source. Nature was antecedent to man's mind: she brought him forth, and it is to her many-sided beckonings--of some of which he in the end speaks as 'revelation', though this is true in varying degree of them all--that he responds. Religion is the supreme form of that adaptation which is life. True personality in man, his spiritual nature, like every other element in his make-up, in a direct responsive adaptation, in this case, to that which is Ultimate in his Environment.
new zealand research papers
It is generally said -- particularly by New Zealanders, and no people more heartily criticise their own culture -- that New Zealand has produced no great literature; and certainly, one is driven modestly to admit, our country has produced nothing quite in the same class as Paradise Lost, or War and Peace, or the later poems of W. B. Yeats, or Leaves of Grass or Moby Dick. But she has produced a number of very good books, and a greater number which, if not positively good, are yet interesting; and nobody can hope to understand contemporary New Zealand who has not read half-a-dozen of these books at least.
stress management research papers
The critical factor in the association between stressors as symbolic threat and outcomes was found to be the management strategies that elderly persons use to contain and ward off the threatening implications of relocation. Three types of strategies, investigated in chapter 6, were the degree of coping effort, the level of integration or cognitive restructuring, and the felt degree of mastery over relocation. Management strategies were associated not only with the amount of depression experienced after the move, but also, and more importantly, to subsequent long-term outcomes. The most potent management strategy was the creation by aged persons of a view that they had mastery and control over their lives and the impending crises.
