This notwithstanding the fact that to do so -as these critics more or less admit -- is to point up as many differences as similarities. Historian Daniel Boorstin sees tourism as blatantly stereotyped. "People," he writes, "go to see what they already know is there. Boorstin considers attractions to be "pseudo-events" or caricatures of reality. To make a difficult situation worse, Reynolds also experienced trouble from thieves who stole leaf tobacco from his buildings. There is, however, a definite indication that Reynolds used a peddler, one N. Dalton.
